Please help! ALL Modern pages impacted | SharePoint spacing issue
spadminemma The issue occurred in all of our tenants on Tue, then seemed to be rolled back and is back again today/last night. What a horrible experience, both Product updates and its support. We raised a support ticket with Microsoft Premier Support and the here's what they have come back! Yes, a link to a solution guidance page that's for Building classic publishing portals for SharePoint Online, and I couldn't see how that helps as is completely not relevant for Modern pages.
After discussing with the team, it came to my knowledge that we don't provide support for SharePoint Online Modern Sites customizations in the Premier Support channel. Also site design changes can happen any time without notice, as stated in the following article:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/dev/solution-guidance/portal-branding
The SharePoint Online service is constantly improving. Updates provisioned to the service may affect the Document Object Model (DOM) structure of out-of-the-box pages and the content of out-of-the-box files (for example, master pages). Developers must keep this in mind and should not rely on unsupported customization approaches (for example, the position of specific elements in the DOM structure of the page).
For any customization support, please engage your CSAM
uno-ic I had a second support call today where the team looked at even more code within the browser's developer tools. I'm always careful to see if I can replicate in a vanilla out-of-the-box site before opening a ticket.

I did the same, only quoted the affected pages that use out-of-the-box webparts - Text, Embed. There's absolutely no issue reproducing this as I had side by side comparison of the page the way it looked before and after - spacing and layout changed in the latest.
Final reply from support wasn't helpful:

As per my last email, these updates to the SPO interface are done without previous notice, and they are not supported through the Premier support channel - unless they are related to a technical problem that will impact SharePoint availability or other aspects. Visual changes are not considered an issue, or at least not handled through support cases.
If you need further assistance on that, please work with your Microsoft Account Manager representative.

I'm certainly crossed in the way the updates are pushed and handled. 😞- spadminemmaNov 05, 2020Copper Contributor
uno-ic this is a huge issue!! All of our pages went from beautiful and easy to read to squished and terrible looking. There is no way they would intentionally change the visual layout to this design.
