Parent site link on sub site
Is the parent site link not supposed to show up on the global navigation bar any longer???
Attached is a small image of the sub site header. It has a link to iteself (??) but no link or 'up' link to the parent site as I recall from SharePoint 2013.

not really, the modern site concept based on sites (=SiteCollection), not subsites.

Guiding principle: the world is flat
Classic SharePoint architecture is typically built using a hierarchical system of site collections and subsites, with inherited navigation, permissions, and site designs. Once built, this structure can be inflexible and difficult to maintain. In the modern SharePoint experience, subsites aren't recommended.
