Opening video element in HCWP redirects to library and doesn't open video in MS Stream Player

Dear community,

one of my colleagues is facing the following problem regarding SharePoint/Stream (on SharePoint):

The team has stored some .mp4 video files in a document library on their Communication Site.

They are using two customized columns for "Category" and "Language" with respective choises to add as optional metadata to the video files.

To show up videos by a certain category, they're using a Highlighted Content Web Part (HCWP) on a modern SharePoint page. This is the HCWP set up:

Source: A document library on this site

Content Type: Videos

Filter 1: Show videos by custom column "Language"

Filter 2: Show videos by custom column "Category".

The HCWP shows up the results correctly = all the filters seems to work.

The problem: When clicking on an video element displayed in the HCWP, the video is NOT openend in the Stream Player! Intead the user is always redirected directly to the default view of the Document library where all the videos are stored.

Anyone an idea why this behaviour occurs?

I've already tried the following:

- Changed the settings in the Content area of the HCWP config (e. g. content type = any instead of videos etc.).

- Tried to filter directly by .mp4 files

- Tried to avoid special characters (e. g. " ' " etc.) in the choices added in the custom column "Category".

- Configured the Document library as a Site Assets library

I'm really looking forward to get some helpful ideas from the community 🙂

Thanks in advance and kind regards

Tobias
