Opening Customised form from List View Webpart

I have a list which is used to request changes.  The list has a lot of items and they are split into streams.  Because of the volume using the main list to work with items is somewhat cumbersome and there are approximately 30 different views being used.  Rather than having users navigate to the correct view in the list itself it would be beneficial to use the list view webpart in the modern page to preste them all of the different statuses for each stream on the page for that stream.  However when opening an item from the list view webpart it opens a new classic page with all columns showing.

This is a really poor experience for users in 2 ways.  Firstly I have had to customize the form to present the details in a more manageable fashion as there are many columns in each item.  Secondly, the classic experience is dreadful, in particular as an organization supporting the visually impaired the navigation and layout is awful for screen readers and magnifiers.

I cannot understand why Microsoft would create a webpart for modern pages that then links to classic components.

Is there a way around this?

  • Well, clearly a bug / lack of functionality in the modern WebPart that is still in preview so best you can do here is:
    (1) Post your experince here (you have already done so)
    (2) Open a support ticket to notify Microsoft support about this issue so they can properly scalate it
