Open in a new tab and etc

Hello,

My company recently switched from Drive to SharePoint a few days ago, but I find SharePoint lacking in usability. I've encountered several frustrating issues while using the platform. Here’s a list of the problems I’ve experienced, and I would appreciate your advice if there are any possible solutions:

  1. It’s not possible to open a document in a “new tab” or window. This is frustrating because I have to check each file one by one.
  2. Even when I switch the view (e.g., Tiles, Compact List, or List), it keeps resetting itself, which is very inconvenient.
  3. When I click on a random PDF, JPG, or similar file, it doesn’t show me which folder the file belongs to.
  4. I can’t pin or add my favorite folders to the left menu for quick access.
  5. Searching is a major issue. The search function only works based on the current folder I’m in, and to perform an effective search, I have to go back to the root folder every time.

here are some help to your issues, maybe next time you mage a pilot or testing phase to prevent issues befor you have the go live ;)

    I have made some testings:

    1. It’s not possible to open a document in a “new tab” or window. This is frustrating because I have to check each file one by one > Open in app and open in browser open a document in a new tab, preview in the same

    2. Even when I switch the view (e.g., Tiles, Compact List, or List), it keeps resetting itself, which is very inconvenient. > you mean the filters, right? Yes it is.
    3. When I click on a random PDF, JPG, or similar file, it doesn’t show me which folder the file belongs to. > in Browser view you have a bread crumb on top:

    4. I can’t pin or add my favorite folders to the left menu for quick access. > you can use M365 favorites for any elements:

    5. Searching is a major issue. The search function only works based on the current folder I’m in, and to perform an effective search, I have to go back to the root folder every time. > you have a bread crumb to a higher level at the bottom from a search page:

I hope one or two issues are answered with this.

    Best, Dave
