OneNote Notebook in SharePoint - sharing link

We have a OneNote notebook in a SharePoint site. A member of the site (read/write right), shared a link to the OneNote notebook via an email address and the recipient was able to open and edit the OneNote notebook, however the recipient is NOT a member of the SharePoint site. How can we secure this?
