OneNote 2016 file in O365 Onedrive shows incorrect "Date Modified"

I have multiple onenote files in O365 onedrive. The modfied date shows incorrect. I regularly update the onenote files however an old date shows for "date modified" which does not change. The file is of  type "internet Shortcut"

The onenote syncs fine and there are no problems whatsoever, just that it is confusing to sometimes identify which is the correct onenote file.

This becomes a problem when end users store onenote files in different locations and dont know which is the current/latest file and becomes difficult to identify specially during migrations

Is this a bug or is it explained somewhere ?
