Office365 groups - Site limit? Site Collection Storage Management set to Automatic?

Hi all,

Does anyone know, if I set the Site Collection Storage Management to Automatic, does this apply to O365 groups?

And also, is the 25tb, collectively across all applications within the group?  Shared Inbox, Planner, Teams, etc?

I am struggling to test this on our tenant.

Thanks!

Ok, it finally kicked in and now all my group sites are now showing 25TB quota. But as Juan said, it's not using that space, it's just allowing group members to store up to that much space, so technically a few groups can get out of hand and eat a good chunk of your storage if you don't keep an eye on it. If you don't want this you can settle for turning the automatic off and getting 1TB per group site instead.

  • That setting is for classic sites. Office 365 Group sites by default are all 1TB per group site collection. The 25TB is the theoretical maximum you can extend the quota to if needed.
    • No, the automatic management is for all the sites in SPO including Groups sites or Teams sites. Also when you create a Group with the automatic setting, the default size is 25 TB and not 1 TB...you can check this with PowerShell

I read that existing sites get changed to 1TB after the option is enabled. But what I meant was I changed it and created a new site which was still 1TB. So it must take awhile to take hold.
