No linked article images in News Digest

When I publish a News Digest via Sharepoint online the images are blank for the stories that have been linked from an external URL. I've tested the email in outlook, apple mail and gmail and all are blank - the only client that works is hotmail via outlook online.

This was working fine last week, could someone advise please?
