News webpart Cancel button is acting strange

I've been playing around with News web part and I can't figure out what's wrong with the cancel button. When adding a new news page from the web part, you get a panel where you can select a template for your page. When I switch between templates and the click 'Cancel', first time nothing happens, second time it usually does something, but each time I get different results. Sometimes it switches to the previously selected template, sometimes closes the panel and shows the new page, sometimes redirects to homepage etc. Can anyone explain, what's happening? Is it a bug or a feature?
