New SharePoint Properties Panel

Hello;   In Word 2016 with the new SharePoint, Properties Panel brings this error when displayed. Am I correct this is SharePoint Online only?

Right now it's online only. But Microsoft can make it work if they choose to as I demonstrate in this video:

    Can I disable this for my users until we move to SPO?

        I would like to be able to remove the information panel as well when a user hovers over either the document or over the ellipsis, a box pops up which some users are finding annoying and want to turn off.  I have tried using content type settings and the "Document Information Panel" settings but they were already turned off so that didn't help.
