Nested Microsoft 365 groups inside SharePoint permission groups - access denied M365 group users
Hello, question regarding using nested Microsoft 365 groups within SharePoint online permission group. I have this current setup, had similar setup(and problems) in several environments. The setup is the following:
Parts
- Several Microsoft 365 groups, teams connected
- A couple of different SharePoint stand alone sites(not group connected) - both commmunication sites and team sites
Need
- need to use the Microsoft 365 groups nested inside of the SharePoint sites permission groups, members group and visitors group used
Errors:
- Users within M365 groups getting access denied when trying to access the stand alone SharePoint sites.
Solution(which really is no good solution)
- Need to add the users(from the m365 group) manually to the SharePoint group(then they get access of course) and then remove them....solves the problem on individual user basis
How do you solve this problem? Is it an known problem?

- Hi,
That problem is totally unexpected and users belonging to a M365 Group should be able to access a SharePoint site, no matter the site type, once the Group is added...what happens sometimes is there is a kind of delay betweeng adding the Group and the Group members being able to access the site
