In my experience, CAD files typically have links to other files and you get much better performance and reliability with local file shares for those type of files.
yes, that is our concern, I have used https://www-avl.egnyte.com/netgear/?georedirect=true for other clients and they really like it. I was hoping a similar option would work for SharePoint.
