Modern web parts appending ?web=1 to links

We're finding that modern web parts like Quick Links and Hero append "?web=1" to the end of a link to an external site. We have a couple downstream legacy systems that won't accept that in the URL and therefore the link is no good, is there a way to remove that?

It does not seem like good practice to append anything to a customer supplied URL.

  • Did you manage to resolve this Geoffrey? I've found a workaround, by creating a web page and then adding the link in that, but it's adding an extra click for the end users. Just wondered if there's a way to remove the ?web=1 extension from the quick links web part.

Honestly have not thought about it in awhile... never did find any sort of workaround but also have not tested for the issue either.

I randomly get csf=1 if I remember correctly, not sure if it is related to Webparts though.

Same problem. Trying to make a link to an old Lotus domino portal.

Looks like we have to set up a proxy solution to strip ?web=1 from the URL
