Modern UI Search Experience

Good Day:

When executing a seach query from the home page of a communications or modern team site we get taken to the new UI for search.  The All, Files, Sites, News filters are available although you can click on the filter to reflect a timeframe for narrowing down the search scope.

With the Classic UI Search experience we had refiners showing up on the left hand side of the page, which we could leverage to narrow down the search results. Does anyone know when and if we are going to have the same search refiner experience with the modern UI as we did with the classic search experience? Thanks

  • OOTB Classic has 3 Basic refiners.  Document Type (Excel, Word etc.),  Author and Modified.

in Modern  You get  filter by  Modified Date for ALL Tabs. (All, Files, News).  If you click on the files tab you get filter by Document Type (Word, Excel, PDf etc.) and Modified By.   You don't get filter by author. The last you could do is scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Go To Classic Results page.

Thank you all, yes depending on which search tab you are then the few choices for refiners show up. In the classic search UI we had refiners that correlated to key document metadata in addition to the author refiner heavily leveraged by our users. Will wait then hoping the modern UI for search can bring soon the ability to define search refiners. Thanks
  • We know we will have the ability to customze search modern experiences, but there is no ETA about when this will happen
