Modern team site custom web parts

Hi everyone,

Is anyone aware of any changes to custom web parts when considering the modern teamsites site construction (more specifically customizing a web part that was being utilized in the old site to perform in the same manner on the modern teamsite)?

I ask because I am currently trying to add a custom tab switching web part of our old site to the modern site and the process is anything but straightforward.
