Modern Search Center
As Modern team sites and Communication sites have been rolling out, we have been wondering if there are any specific configurations that can be made to the search experience? We have configured a search center with specific search verticals, refiners, etc and would like to continue providing that experience for our users, but it doesn't seem like the Site Collection, or Site Search settings are used in any modern page, lists, library as it just redirects to the unconfigurable modern search experience.
Are there any additional settings or anything in place for us to start to utilize the new modern experience but still enable users a seamless customized search experience?
I don't think you'll get much configuration around the modern search, as it's the same sort of model for classic compared to modern pages, and hopefully it works and is designed well enough it won't be needed.
Structured/Classic search will always have a place for when you want to provide a custom solution.
Intelligent/Modern search will cover off those cases when people just want it to be "like google", well hopefully.
- Did you also configure the search settings in the site to use this search center?
yes, both at the site and site collection levels
