Modern Page Image Gallery not displaying correctly

I am having a few problems with the image gallery displaying images correctly.  any suggestions would be greatly appreciated:

 

1. in Carousel view: the bottoms of images are cut off.  I cannot find a "dimension" or "size" option.

2. I also tried Tiles view: in Tiles view, the small images look ok, but still cut off.  if I click the image to display in a larger view, the first image displays ok, but all other images show only a broken image icon. This only happens in IE, everything in the Tiles view works correctly in Edge browser.  I  have attached a screenshot of this error.

 

I only need a solution for one of the above issues, but a solution to both would be nice.
