Microsoft 365 Copilot Licensed but Unable to Create SharePoint Pages Using HTML

Hello everyone,

I have a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence in our tenant, but I cannot see the option to create SharePoint site pages using HTML.

I would like to know whether this feature is available to all tenants or is being rolled out gradually.

Is there any specific SharePoint or Microsoft 365 admin setting that needs to be enabled to access this feature?

Are there any additional licensing requirements or prerequisites? How can I check whether the feature has been enabled or rolled out to our tenant?

Any guidance or suggestions would be appreciated.

If you visit site pages library and see the button for file types and when you click it you see allow html is on, yet when you go to the home page of the site and click the new dropdown and only see page but not HTML. The problem at that point is most likely twofold. First you need to make sure the user (or tenant) is enrolled in copilot frontier. Next, you will need to make sure that the site itself has copilot for SharePoint enabled. So the html thing should be enabled by default...but you will need to manually make sure the user is part of copilot frontier and that the site itself has copilot for sharepoint enabled. Currently, there is a powershell command for the copilot in SharePoint. After nov 1 that powershell is supposed to go away and the whole tenant should be enabled for copilot in sharepoint. I hope this helps.

  • Your Copilot licence is necessary for the Copilot HTML-authoring experience, but it does not alone guarantee that the entry point is available. Microsoft documents gradual introduction of this functionality, including Frontier availability, so tenants can differ. First, have the site owner open Site Pages, select File types, and check Allow HTML files; HTML is enabled by default but can be disallowed per site. Then confirm that your signed-in account has both the assigned Microsoft 365 Copilot licence and permission to create or edit pages. On the site, check + New for HTML page, or check + Create on the Publish landing page. Uploading existing HTML to Site Pages does not itself require Copilot, although appropriate file permissions still apply. If the settings are correct but the option remains absent, ask your administrator to verify rollout availability with Microsoft rather than purchasing another licence.
