@mention email notifications

@mention email notifications is it possible to disable these on an individual bases? https://support.office.com/en-us/article/why-am-i-receiving-email-notifications-from-office-3b68030d-9e75-4122-984c-3b966b898049?ui=en-US&rs=en-001&ad=US
I have tried to disable this via the SharePoint admin center > More features > User profiles > Manager user profiles. However, the user is still receiving the email @mention email notifications.
In this article https://support.office.com/en-gb/article/sharepoint-email-notifications-5bd63d8a-d43e-48cc-82b3-03a7687d5dc4 you can see an 'Unsubscribe' link in the screenshot, however, we don't seem to have that option?
