Have you looked into PNP as this is a feature you want to set or not set. With PNP you can provision the sites correctly.
Hi Paul,
it should be something enabled by default (and it has always been so) for Team Site, so I don't see the need of a custom remote provisioning.
Now trying to make use of it from a standard Team Site (also newly created) doesn't behave as expected.
I know which are the factors invalidating MDS and I ensured they're not in place, as I described.
