Max site collection storage limit

What's the largest site collection you have worked with and managed? It appears the max data storage of a site collection is 25TB. We are planning to have a site collection with around 11TB of data. However, I am skeptical that a site with that amount of space is a good idea e.g. it could cause performance problems.
