Lock down Sharepoint files so that multiple people can’t access the same document at the same time
Is there a way to lock down Sharepoint / one drive files so that multiple people can’t access the same document at the same time. We want to make it so that one person doesn’t overwrite changes being made by another user at the same time.
- This can be achieved with at the document level by restricting editing. However, for multiple documents you should enable the "Require Checkout" option in Versioning Settings for the Document Library.
To enable the option, navigate to Library > Library Settings > Versioning Settings

mgabriel7243 Are you looking for an experience similar to an on premises file server where Office would lock the document for exclusive editing? If so, you could either manually check out the file from SharePoint, or, use a https://www.thinkscape.com/Map-Network-Drives-To-Office-365-OneDrive/#OfficeDocumentLocking.
