Link to "Edit In Word" Missing for some external users

This is expected behavior when using guest links. If they are full b2b users in your tenant from and invite and have 365 they get the edit link. If not and they use anon link or code access they cannot. Soon code sharing will be b2b so they can probabaly edit in client and OneDrive team is looking to make anyone with office have the option even with guest links but that is farther out.

Chris,

I am the customer mentioned in Dean's inquiry.  I have a few questions about Azure B2B.  My company is sharing with a number of external companies using code sharing.  1. Users from other companies are listed in Azure B2B and were not added directly.  The partner who is having this issue is not listed in Azure B2B.  Why is that?  2. If we add the user from our partner to this Azure B2B directly, will he/she be able to open the file in Word then?

    Dean_Gross, thanks for the callout, I'll pass that along and make sure it gets added to our list.

     

    April Morris-Homan, when you share to someone using the code sharing (or the one time passcode as we have been calling it), they are not created as a guest user in the directory and thus cannot use the Office apps. If you add the user directly via Azure B2B, they will get a full account provisioned and will be able to open the file in Word.

        Dean_Gross, much as I'd like to take credit for this, we have a pretty amazing content team that manages and helps with all of our documentation (of which there is much in the sharing world!) I'll make sure to pass along on their behalf though! Thanks again for flagging!
