Link to content type templates

I added 3 content types (1 PowerPoint and 2 Word documents).  Is there a way to open these templates (i.e. document1.docx, document2.docx, powerpoint1.pptx, powerpoint2.pptx) through a hyperlink rather than clicking NEW from the library?



The link to PowerPoint *.potx automatically downloads a copy. But the links to *.dotx opens the actual *.dotx file.
