Item limit in the Sharepoint Online list

Hi,

I'm reading a Microsoft document on item limit in SharePoint online list. It says : The supported limit is 50,000 uniquely permissioned items, but the recommended general limit is 5,000. Another limit is 5,000 role assignments per uniquely permissioned item.

If I have a list with unique permissions where users can only add\edit there own items. Will that comes under 5,000 role assignments list? multiple items created by multiple users in the list or will that come under 50,000 uniquely permissioned items.

Thanks,

-Salman

As far as supported limit is concerned it means you can share around 50k items individually and after that it won't let you share items invidually , yes you can share folders and library but not individual items.

As for role assigments it means that a single item can be shared to 5000 different user and post that you won't be able to share that particular item.

In essence you can have 50k items shared with around 5k users each in a library or list. Hope this clarify your qwery
  • This limit applies when you break inheritance at the item level...If I'm not mistaken, it does not apply to the setting "each user can only edit and view its item"
