Is there any particular reason that you are using a "classic" publishing site on SharePoint Online?
Would it be possible for you to migrate it to a modern communication site?

I need migrate a portal Sharepoint 2013 OnPremise to Sharepoint Online and some customizations are requireds go with the migration.
I created another classic site (ex: .sharepoint.com/sites/test01) and works fine, but I would like use the root site.
