Awwall960 If you would consider a commercial tool for the mapping rather than the Microsoft WebClient implementation, you could check Zee Drive for mapping network drives to OneDrive for Business and SharePoint.

Awwall960 If you absolutly want to use WebDAV instead of OneDrive to access a SharePoint library, you can use "Add a network place" or map a drive and use the library or site URL. However the mapping creation will work if you are logged in using IE or have an Office desktop app that is open and, I think, did a file open or save accessing SharePoint just before performing the mapping.
Afterward If you try to access, from Windows Explorer, the mapping to the library, it will not work if one of both conditions above are not met.
If you access the mapping from an Office app, it will always work.
I'm not 100% sure of what I'm saying but it should not be very far 🙂
But all this is not user friendly... I would not implement this for users.
