Is there a way to disconnect Teams from collaboration SharePoint Site?

We have a few sites that would have been more appropriately built as communication sites (org wide audience), but they were built as collaboration sites and owners built teams from the sites and no longer want the teams that is connected.

I know there is a way to hide the 'create teams' link on the site with PowerShell, but I would think there has got to be a way to remove the Teams that is connected to the SharePoint Site.  

If not, the only option would be to tell users to hide those teams or rebuild site...

I'm also thinking that the next best thing would be to ask users to hide the Teams and then 'Share the site only' with
