Is it possible to increase the size of "Person picture 72x72" in a custom list?

I would like to increase the size of the photos in my custom list on our SharePoint - how do I do this? 72x72 pixels is simply to small. I still want to keep the functionality of knowing if the person is online on Skype or not though. Is there a CSS or j-query solution for this.
