Integrating Outlook into SharePoint site

Is it possible to integrate a users Outlook into a SharePoint site? Instead of having to have Outlook open in a separate window?

  • Fairly certain this isn't possible Tim. There are no Outlook webparts for instance available for SharePoint pages. Only possible solution I can think of would be a Flow that took emails to a mailbox and created them as list items, that you then displayed on a SharePoint page. But they wouldn't be 'emails', they'd just be text messges, you'd still need to open Outlook to actually do anything with them. Is there a specific reason someone at your place wants to do this?

      Hi Paul,

Thanks for your response. We are currently building our company intranet on SharePoint Online since we already are using Office 365 for Outlook, etc. We are hoping to have as much as possible included in our SharePoint site so the user only need to access one place for everything. Trying to think of ideas of how to do this. We plan on linking documents, and software applications (where possible), also we are starting to integrate Microsoft Teams.

Hey, good luck with the new Intranet. Funny enough we launched our own new Intranet yesterday, going well (so far)! We used modern pages with various embedded Yammer groups for conversations. Plus lots of links (of different types) to key content.

Obviously in 365 you will have the waffle menu (top left) with a shortcut to Outlook, but I guess you could also use a URL link to Outlook (https://outlook.office.com/owa/) and stick it behind a big shiny image link on your Intranet homepage (plus in your top level nav) so at least it is one less click away. :)

        Good luck with the project!
