i have a public group sharepoint site, can i make one list private for a friend

hi! i have a group sharepoint site. when i try to make a list on that site private to be shared only by 2-3 people, privacy settings seem to apply to members, visitors, owners. i just want to share a list with a couple people first. can this be done?
