Hybrid Search - Missing Pictures

We have configured Hybrid search using SP 2016 and are crawling a File server. Documents are showing up in the SPO Search Center results but images (jpg files) are not getting found. Has anyone else seen this type of behavior? is this is a known issue or an undocumented limitation?

    Make sure you add your file types to the File Types in the SSA itself. JPG, PNG, GIF aren't there by default. Once you do that, crawl full again then look at the crawl log to make sure those files show up. Not all files will have a parser, so you may see some parser warnings (for example, PNG).

      Thanks, my colleague just discovered that they weren't there by default, has added them and we are waiting for the crawl to finish :)

       

      That seems to be a change from previous versions of SP and the need to do this does not seem to be documented anywhere that we can find.

       

      Neil Hodgkinson could you please make sure that this requirement is clearly documented in the instructions and/or in the next edition of your excellent e-books.
