Hubsite News Webpart Not Displaying Images From Subsite News

Hi there, we are experiencing an issue with the News webpart. We have a hubsite displaying news coming from a subsite, however none of the images from the subsites news are showing in the hubsite News webpart, as you can see in the image below.

Any news that is created directly in the hubsite does show the image, and the news section in subsite itself also shows the images, as you can see in the image below.

Looking at the api request made by the hub page when requesting the news, the json returned always has the "ImageUrl" property of the news item set to an empty string. All users testing this have been Site Owners so I'm fairly sure it is not a permissions problem.
