HTML Dashboard - Left Click to open another browser.

I have created a HTML Dashboard targeting one of our sharepoint lists. I need to add a button to the document which opens up another interface (namely iManage).

The button is linked to a hyperlink column in which has the imanage link.

However when I click the button on the dashboard, its just showing the link in the bottom of the page, it doesnt open when i left click on the mouse, when i click right click, it opens up the link menu so i can open it in a new tab.

But I want something where I can open it in a left click.

Any ideas?

  • Since the context menu can open the iManage destination, check the left-click behavior separately from the stored address. First test the hyperlink directly in the original SharePoint list. If it works there, inspect how your dashboard renders the link rather than the list data. For SharePoint column formatting, Microsoft supports an anchor element with elmType set to a, href bound to the hyperlink value, and target set to _blank. When formatting the hyperlink column itself, use @currentField for its address, not @currentField.desc, which is the description. For a custom SPFx dashboard, Microsoft documents adding data-interception="off" to an anchor when you want normal new-tab navigation instead of SharePoint’s page router. These are different implementation paths, so use the one matching your dashboard. If left-click still does nothing, share the generated anchor markup and any click handler, with private addresses removed; the exact cause cannot be identified from the symptoms alone.
