I don't think you can do this on SPO. Unless MSFT adds this file type to the list down the road, in which case you will be able to see a preview of it in the document information panel, but other than that, you would need to download the file.

Correct, you cannot configure any setting in SPO in regards of MIME types...Microsoft is the only one that can do it. Taking into account your requirement (specific file type used in Stonia) I don't think you will be able to meet this customer requirement
