How to monitor SharePoint online workflow?

We have built some business process workflow, but don't know how to monitor the healthiness and performance. We only know there is some issues on the workflow until the users reported the case to us....

I mean SharePoint workflow which created by SharePoint designer. We also using MS Flow to create business workflow too. We also want to know how to monitor both of them no matter created by SharePoint designer or MS Flow.

Well, then you need to build your custom stuff using Client Object Model for SP 2013 Workflows...bear in mind that this option is not available for SP 2010 style workflows

We build the workflow in SharePoint online. Also the same? Can you share more details on Client Object Model?

  Your best long term solution will be to migrate your SP 2010 style workflows to MS Flow, this will allow you to use all of the new monitoring tools and you won't have to spend a lot of effort creating a custom tool that will become obsolete.
  
  If monitoring WF performance is important to you, then you should take a look at Nintex Hawkeye, this is a very good tool that uses Beacons to easily record duration of WF steps and provides numerous types of metrics that can be displayed in executive level dashboards.

    Agree for the long term solution, but there should still be some time to go.
    There are still some functionalities missing in MS Flow that disable the migration at current stage, e.g. changing item permission, complex conditions if/then etc.
