How can I share documents on MS Sharepoint with other users without allowing them overwrite/save?

Hi Community,

I'm trying to share some documents to users in my company, I want to allow them to download it so that they can edit and create but I don't want to them to overwrite version on the sharedrive.

Usually, when they click on the document, it will open in a browser and users being users, didn't know the difference and went ahead to edit it online and save it. How can I prevent it?

Can any one advise? Thank you!
