How can I retrieve only the newest items in a Sharepoint list?

Hello, I have this list:

The idea is to track laptops that are currently not at the office. 
I'd like to create view of some sort, that displays the laptops that are currently available, that means the ones that under the same ID, have their return date to be less than the current date (Return_date < today), the problem is that this approach has the issue that it will display items without considering the rest of the list. 

So for example, LT01 will appear as available but it has been booked 2 times more in the future, I'd like to first "group" LT01 and get the "latest" return date, and then do the filtering by (Return_date < Today), it's not a pretty solution but that's the best I've come up with. 

I could make another list that only grabs the newest items, I'd like to know how to do that, if it's possible. 
Further suggestions are also welcome.
