Hide Create Site option for users.

Hi,

I'm currently attempting to hide the 'Create Site' option for non admins in SharePoint online. I have created a security group to allow certain users the ability to create O365 groups, but I cannot see the 'show the create site command to users who have permission to create sites' (as shown in the attached). How do I enable this? I'm sure this has been enabled in the past - I must be missing something....

Many thanks in advance,

Adam

  • They changed it, you used to be able too, but not anymore since recently they changed it to allow users to create Team Sites and Comm sites. Now you have to have users create sites through the admin portal if you want someone else to create sites but turn that off for users.

  • The configuration you have done to control Groups creation does not govern the "Create site" link in the SPO Home page...you can hide this link using the setting you have in the "settings" option in the SharePoint Online Admin Center. By the way, if you have disabled Groups creation, users will be able to create modern sites not connected to Groups

OK, so in settings I can hide the create site command or I can show the create site command. I cannot see a way to hide the show create site command for certain users.
