Hero Web Part with Word Document
Hi,
I cannot add a Word document from the site to the Hero Web Part, Excel & PowerPoint work OK but word does not.
The word documents do not even display in the pop up document explorer when using the add from site option.
Does anyone else have this issue or have a fix?

Another option worth exploring (more from a user experience perspective) - try linking to a page and embedding the document on the page. This will ensure that users have the site "context" when you use the Hero to link to a document. If the File Viewer doesn't work as well, then for sure it's something about the document, like permissions.
Thanks for everyone's suggestions, I did try the permissions route to no avail. What did work was if I uploaded a Word Document by dropping it on the select file pop up. But then it disappeared on the next attempt.
So i though I would try a different browser other than chrome. It works in IE Edge fine! So it's a chrome bug.
I also tested it in the latest Fireworks version but a lot of stuff is not working in that browser.

- Hi Toby, I haven't seen this problem but worth checking any security permissions on the documents? Just a thought!
- Agree with John here...the WebPart is not checking the document type, so word documents should work in the same way PowerPoint and Excel do
