Heading styles appearing differently on SharePoint Online
EmmaCohen We are seeing it too and it is so frustrating. And sporadic, as someone else mentioned. And (sometimes) the headings look different in editing mode than they look when published.
Heading 2 and Collapsible Section headings used to match. Now Heading 2 is smaller and bold.
Heading 4 is smaller than the normal text!

I see some new information from Microsoft about the heading size changes in M365 message center and on M365 roadmap site.
Message center: SharePoint Online: New heading level options for web parts - accessible to tenant admins only
M365 Roadmap: SharePoint: Pages - Heading levels for web parts
If you are not happy with this change, raise a support ticket with Microsoft as suggested in my above response.

ganeshsanap THANK YOU!!
I will open a support ticket, as you suggested, and hope others will, too. The new sizing makes no sense in relation to the normal text size.
Additionally, it is not working consistently. Possibly due to the age of a page or some other factor.
For those who can't open the admin message, this is the complete message:
Coming soon: When authoring pages in Microsoft SharePoint, authors will be able to choose the heading level for titles in web parts to help define the hierarchy of information on a page. As we're introducing this new capability, we're also using it as an opportunity to align the default heading font size in the Text web part. New heading default font sizes:
- Heading 2 will now be 24, previously was 28
- Heading 3 will now be 20, previously was 24
- Heading 4 will now be 18, previously was 20
This message is associated with MC670896 Accessibility Improvements to Page Authoring (August 2023) and with Roadmap ID 387500.
When this will happen:
Targeted Release: We will begin rolling out early April 2024 and expect to complete by mid-April 2024.
General Availability (Worldwide, GCC, GCC High, DoD, USNat, and USSec): We will begin rolling out mid-April 2024 and expect to complete by early May 2024.
How this will affect your organization:
Authors will now have the ability to set their own heading level. If not set, the default will continue to be Heading 2. New and existing pages and news posts will see the new default heading font sizes.
What you need to do to prepare:
This rollout will happen automatically by the specified date with no admin action required. You may want to notify your SharePoint authors about this change and update any relevant documentation as appropriate.
- algoblinMar 25, 2024Copper ContributorFor us, the default font that's appearing on some pages is so light it's difficult to read. This is a significant usability issue for some, not to mention an accessibility issue for others. We'll give it a few more days, but if it doesn't resolve, we'll open a ticket with Microsoft too.
