Header area for Modern Pages
Hi - definitely hear your feedback on a need for more customizations (specifically removing the title region) on pages. We are currently looking into more title layouts to support more scenarios and make pages look great.
Could you explain the scenario where you'd want to remove the title region all together? Would love to hear your feedback so we know what to work on!

This morning I see that the white space is greatly reduced in my dev tenant, if I delete the background image, this is great. My employers site does not have this ability yet, but when this is rolled out I think this will be more acceptable to my co-workers.
Sorry I was not more clear on the Title region, I was referring more to the white space and background image being so large, but now that the space is reduced, I still have to get feedback from my boss and coworkers but I don't see this as big an issue for us anymore.

When placing a hero image at the top, what would be the optimum size for the image?

Hate to say it, but size doesn't matter. For most pages, we don't actually need a header image, just room for a title. Ideally you could set preferences for header in Site Settings. At the very least, a choice of (1) banner and (2) non-banner with Title pages would be ideal.

You should now be able to just have room for a title. Are you still having an issue? See image below.

We recommend a minimum of 1000px wide and an aspect ratio of 16:9 or 4:3 landscape image.

What about for the site banner space? What is optimal for resolution and aspect ratio?
