gmail sharepoint access issue
We are having issues with some users with gmail email addresses and log into sharepoint. When they try to log in, they get this error - "Access blocked: microsoftonline.com has not completed the google verification process".
I have tried with my personal gmail email and it worked fine. These are oversea users, however if they use another email address (non-gmail) it works fine. What could be causing this access blocked issue with gmail email addresses for some users?
Thank you.
To share the same PDF file between Excel on macOS and Excel on Windows, you can use OneDrive or SharePoint to store the PDF file and then insert a link to the file in your Excel workbook. This method allows both macOS and Windows users to access the PDF file from within Excel. Here's how you can do it:
- Upload PDF to OneDrive or SharePoint:
- Store the PDF file in a shared location, such as OneDrive or SharePoint. Make sure that both macOS and Windows users have access to the file.
- Get Shareable Link:
- Right-click on the PDF file in OneDrive or SharePoint.
- Select "Copy link" or "Get shareable link" option to obtain the link to the PDF file.
- Insert Link in Excel:
- Open your Excel workbook on macOS or Windows.
- Select the cell or object where you want to insert the link to the PDF file.
- Go to the "Insert" tab on the Excel ribbon.
- Choose "Link" or "Hyperlink," depending on your Excel version.
- Paste the copied link into the address field and click "OK" or "Insert" to create the hyperlink.
- Testing the Link:
- Save and close the Excel workbook.
- Share the workbook with other users.
- When users open the workbook on macOS or Windows, they can click on the hyperlink to open the PDF file in their default web browser.
By using a shareable link to the PDF file stored in OneDrive or SharePoint, you ensure that users on both macOS and Windows platforms can access the file directly from Excel without encountering compatibility issues or errors. Additionally, this method allows for easy collaboration and updates to the PDF file without needing to embed it as an object. The text was created with the help of AI.

Gmail accounts accessing SharePoint. Since it works fine with non-Gmail addresses, it could be related to Gmail's verification process with Android and iPhone Microsoft Online. I'd suggest checking the settings or reaching out to support for further assistance.

They have said that they have done so. We are sharing with them via share link/access as opposed to adding them as a member to the sites. I will trying removing them from the tenancy and then sharing again.
Also just to add some users was able to access previously without any issues using their gmail email address up to the first week of January.. it is only recently that this "Access blocked: microsoftonline.com has not completed the google verification process" error has popped up
- john_west3Copper ContributorIt is resolved - there was an error on the Microsoft backend. I had to raise a ticket with Microsoft support, it took them several days to resolve on their backend
john_west3 When you share the site/documents in SharePoint with guest/external users, they have to accept the invitation first and allow permissions.
Make sure they are accepting the invitations and allowing required permissions.
Check these documentations for more information:
- Quickstart: Add a guest user and send an invitation - Accept Invitation
