Glitch when creating Sharepoint list from Excel

I have had a lot of frustrations with lists as well. I have very detailed sheets we're trying to migrate to Lists. I have found you can not have more than 299 columns and you can not have more than 4,999 rows. Further, I have tried importing only 1k rows as just a test and ran into the same issue where 100% complete was stated but there was no list created. Your only options are back and cancel. If you click either one of these it will not create the list. What 100% complete really means is "in process," if you keep waiting, that screen will close and your sheet will open. I had this sheet open blank but refreshing that page showed my imported excel.
