Following Sites

I was looking at this older post https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/SharePoint/Obtaining-list-of-users-that-FOLLOW-a-modern-experience-site/m-p/301309#M24686 since I had kind of the same question and was hoping in having updated feedback. Our use case is around an on premise non Microsoft platform we are looking in replacing the sites with SharePoint online. On the on premise platform site owners were able to see who is following their site. As we plan to replace those on premise sites with SharePoint online we of course got the question if the same could be accomplished where SharePoint site owners could know who is following their site. Thank you again for any feedback/ideas.

Thank you, if that is the case then will the SharePoint Framework web part need to leverage SP.Social.SocialActor object (sp.userprofiles) as reference on the URL from the older post I referenced? Or have you seen a SharePoint Framework solution that could help retrieving this data? Thanks!
