Filtering on Events web part

It would be great to get the same filtering options for the Events web part in SharePoint modern as you get in the News web part. This would really help to be able to quickly show targeted events across different pages.

Is this a development possibility?

    Yes, the Events web part supports very basic Category filtering, and Microsoft has not announced any plan to add advanced filtering.

    To use Category filtering today, you can set up a simple metadata‑based model:

    • The Events list already includes a Category column; you can add more options in this column from List Settings
    • Tag each event with the Category value that matches the page where it should appear.
    • On each page, configure the Events web part to filter by that Category.

    Example:

    • Events Web Part on Page A → Properties → Category equals “A”
    • Events Web Part on Page B → Properties → Category equals “B”

    This gives you basic targeted events, but not the advanced filtering options available in the News web part.
