Filtering autocompletes based on top result
I have noticed recently that if you are filtering on a column in a SharePoint list or library, if you start typing, it will now auto complete your search for you based off of the top result in that column.
I will show some examples below of this happening.
When just typing "1" it auto completes my search with the top result.
When typing "1234" it auto completes my search based off of the 1 and then adds 234 to the end of the top result.
This means you now either have to copy and paste the exact thing you want to search on or manually scroll down the filter list to select what you want. You cant anymore just type 1234 and then select 1234789.
Is this a new feature? Can it be turned off? Would be great to have some answers if anyone knows as it is extremely frustrating, as I use the filter feature every day to partially match and help me find items, and now that is essentially not possible.
Thanks!

This is affecting our org as well. A partial workaround is to hit the delete key (not backspace) once it autocompletes incorrectly, which will remove the incorrect digits and allow you to keep typing. This only adds one key-press as opposed to hitting backspace several times.

Same here, our users reported this as well. I just tested this on a manage metadata field where we have hundreds of entries which all starts with a 3-digit number i.e. "001 Introduction", "001 AAA", "002 Another value" etc.
Before users just stated typing and could easily tag with whatever but now and as described above it doesn't work. You type "0" and then it autocompletes to "001 Introduction" and you have to use backspace to delete most of it. Super annoying. 😖

Our users just reported this to me as well! It is slowing them down, they use the filter feature daily.

I have also noticed this and users are already complaining about it.
