Filter to where I can see items assigned to [Me] but still can see all items in personal view.
Hi wonka1234,
Unfortunately, personal views in SharePoint cannot be accessed or deleted by administrators.
This means users who created private views before their permissions were changed may still be able to view and interact with all items.
You have the following approaches to address the issue with legacy private views:
These options are not ideal, but Option 2 is likely the most feasible in your current scenario.
Option 1: Work with Users
- Ask affected users to manually delete their private views.
- This depends entirely on user cooperation—so you're essentially at their mercy.
Option 2: Migrate to a New List
- Create a new list with the correct permissions and view configurations.
- Copy all items from the original list to the new one.
- Move users to the new list and instruct them to use only the public views.
- Delete the original list to eliminate access through legacy private views.
- While not the best solution, this approach is more practical and enforceable.
Option 3: Enable Item-Level Permissions
- This enforces visibility at the item level, regardless of view filters or private views.
- Totally depends on the business use case.
