Filter Pane Modern Experience

Working on a new team SharePoint, and we have a number of needs. First, we are looking to have the filter pane open by default for every user. Currently, it seems to be open if user last left it open, closed otherwise. 

 

If we cannot have it open by default, at least having the filter icon be larger would help. Also is there STILL no way to sort the filter items alphabetically?
